Constructing Communities
A communal conservatory and private apartment in Broadway Market.
The project is an addition to the strongly gentrified Broadway Market area that aims to introduce a stronger communal bond between the residents of Broadway Market.
The entire steel structure is elevated above ground giving an opportunity for a pathway, leaving the entire site open for communal activities. From there the locals are given access to the 'lost paradise' of the conservatory.
The front of the structure is a glass brick facade that aims to form a conversation with the historically preserved brick facades of Broadway Market by enabling to express the local character with a contemporary twist.
The back of the project is of the ETFE and steel structure which contains the conservatory and expresses the typical contrast between the contained front facades and the slightly more individual and messy backs of a common street in London.
